Jamshedpur: After spending Rs 24 lakh, MMC locks toilet in Mango

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Sept 11: Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has come under scanner for reportedly spending Rs 23.97 lakh on constructing a toilet and putting it lock and key soon thereafter.

Sources said the toilet was built near the Mango Bridge in Ward No 10 on the initiative taken by the then executive officer of MMC, Deepak Sahay. The toilet was built with the view to encourage people to use it and abstain from defecating in the open. The toilet was constructed in 2020 by the state Health Minister Banna Gupta and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato.

When asked as to why was the toilet locked after inauguration, Sahay had then said that some finishing work was still pending and that it would be opened soon. But that day never came.
