Jamshedpur administration’s determined COVID vaccine drive yields results

105 year old Binoy, Narayan aged 95 and Samir a 91 year old take first shots

Jamshedpur, June 8: The East Singhbhum district administration’s determination to achieve targets has yielded positive results but some among them, like the COVID vaccine drive had come up against walls of negativity that were surmounted with dedicated team efforts. One is reminded of King Bruce and the Spider on such occasions when incessant efforts and never-say-die attitude ultimately pays off. Similarly, especially in rural climes, villagers were fed on rumors by word of mouth or through various social mediathat COVID vaccines were harmful and caused several ailments like fever, lethargy and impotence. The administrative people had to drive hard the actual facts through concerted awareness missions that the vaccines were the safest shields against the killer virus. And finally the light of truth began to emerge and the darkness of rumors cleared the rural sky as more villagers have been falling in long lines to take their shots of safety.

The gaining momentum of COVID vaccination was highlighted today as elderly priest of Mahulia Panchayat in Ghatshila Block 105 years old Binoy Das, 95 year old Narayan Gorai of Kashida Panchayat and Samir Mahto the 91 year old Pairaguri village resident took their first doses at their homes. Amainagar resident Biren Bhakat who is 73 years old and physically challenged, preferred to go to the vaccine centre to get inoculated.These senior citizens have not only dispelled the initial inhibitions regarding COVID vaccine but also set the trend of going in for the vital vaccine and remain safe and keep others safe from the clutches of the viral infection.

The district administration has lauded the cooperation and understanding of senior citizens who had scotched rumors and opted for the COVID vaccines. Ghatshila BDO, Kumar S Abhinav said that the vaccination awareness drive in every rural area was yielding results as more people were queuing up at vaccination centres. He said, “For elderly people who are incapable of movement, we are sending health teams to vaccinate them. We also hope that people of ages 45 years and above will not stay away from getting vaccinated. The vaccination scenario elicits optimism.”
