Jamshedpur administration to organise job fair for youth, DC orders registration drive for workers

Jamshedpur, March 31: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav directed the district labour department to launch a campaign for registering unorganized workers across the district. She said wide publicity should be accorded to the registration drive so that a large number of unorganized workers get registered and benefit from various welfare schemes being run by the Central and state governments.

The DC was addressing a review meeting of the labour department. She said efforts should be expedited to cover more and more people under the various departmental schemes such as pension scheme, medical scheme, workers tools aid scheme, etc.

Jadhav also reviewed the employment and training departments. She said job fairs or employment camps should be held to give jobs to unemployed youths. Training given to unemployed youths should be based on market demand to make it relevant, she said.

The DC said the children should also be provided skill training in courses such as fashion designing, beautician and other trades. She said stress should be laid on enhancing the soft skills of children, especially communication. She said career counseling and guidance programmes should be organized for children after completion of 10th and 12th Board exams.

Today’s meeting was also attended by the Deputy Labour Commissioner Rajesh Prasad, Labour Superintendent Ramesh Singh, District Skill cum Employment Officer Ajay Kumar and Employment Officre, Ghatsila, Pankaj Kumar Jha.
