Jamshedpur Administration to ensure video surveillance for peaceful Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur: With the aim of maintaining peace and harmony during the upcoming Ramnavami celebrations, the East Singhbhum administration is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring elaborate arrangements. Measures are being put in place to deploy adequate police and paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.

The administration has identified several sensitive areas and will deploy Rapid Action Force jawans accordingly. Additionally, video surveillance will be a key component of security measures during both the Ramnavami procession on April 17 and the immersion ceremony on April 18.

SDO of Dhalbhum Parul Singh has issued a directive instructing local police station officials and Ramnavami Akhara committees to ensure video recording of the procession and immersion ceremony. The administration will also arrange video photography teams to be deployed along the procession routes.

The deployment of magistrates to oversee the video recording process underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring foolproof security arrangements. CCTV cameras installed by the district police in key areas will complement these efforts, with recordings monitored by city police at the control room.

The district has been divided into 25 zones and six super-zones ahead of the festivity, with officials instructed to coordinate with local urban bodies for the cleaning of ghats and roads. Immersion ceremonies will take place at designated ghats across various locations.

To address water exigencies during the festival, the administration has sought support from corporate sectors, in addition to Jusco, for water supply through tankers to various akharas participating in the processions.

All police stations have been directed to maintain regular communication with local akhara committees to ensure a peaceful festival atmosphere.

Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly.

The Deputy Commissioner, (DC) Ananya Mittal and senior police superintendent Kishore Kaushal issued instructions pertaining to the peaceful accomplishment of the Ramnavmi festival.

Round the clock electricity and drinking water supply besides, smooth roads for taking out processions are some of the areas the administration has focused on.

The DC has directed all the departments concerned to gear up for the festival and ensure all arrangements to the Akhara samities before the festival gets started.

Meanwhile, the administration is equally focusing on the law and order condition in the Maoist infested area. Nonetheless, SP informed in the meeting that officer in-charge of all the police stations of the district including city have been asked to pull up their shocks in the wake of Ramnavmi festival inching closer.

Moreover movement of heavy vehicles will be stopped on the day of the procession while private vehicles will be restricted in the city after 2pm.
