Jamshedpur administration pledges to follow edicts of Constitution in letter and spirit

Jamshedpur, Nov 26: Constitution Day was observed in all government offices of the district on Friday. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Officer Dhalbhum, District Public Relations Officer, Deputy Development Commissioner, and District Transport Officer and other district officials, departmental heads and employees read out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution in the Collectorate Auditorium and took an oath to abide by letter and spirit of the Constitution of India.

It may be mentioned that a portion of the oath taken by the members of Parliament on passing of the Constitution read, “We, the people of India, to make India a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic and give to all its citizens social, economic and political justice, provide right to thought, expression, belief, religion and freedom of worship, equality of Prestige and Opportunity, And in all of them the person’s dignity and unity and integrity of the nation; to increase the surety fraternity with determination, in this Constituent Assembly today, on the date 26th November, 1949 AD (Miti Margashirsh Shukla Saptami, Samvat two thousand six Vikrami), hereby adopt, enact and surrender this Constitution.”
