Jamshedpur: With the wedding season in full bloom, the district administration in its fresh directives has banned taking out of procession (Baraat) during wedding ceremonies.
Concerned over violation of social distancing norms during recent weddings taking place in the city, the Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar on Tuesday issued a fresh directive stating that taking out of procession in the form of Baraat cannot be allowed in view of the outbreak of pandemic Covid-19.
He instructed all the incident commanders to stop the procession of the wedding ceremonies with band instruments. Kumar said that compliance of social distancing in crowded areas is absolutely necessary to prevent the spread of corona infection.
He said that wedding processions are being taken out at the wedding functions, while there is a complete ban on any kind of procession. He said that compliance of social distancing cannot be ensured in the procession. In such a situation, the concerned commanders have been instructed to make the organizers aware and issue notices from their level before such events.
Moreover, in yet another directive, the deputy commission has asked operators and managers of all the Hotels and Banquet Halls that no more than 200 people will be allowed in marriage and other events outside the containment Zone. Also, social distancing must be complied.
Kumar said that compliance of social distancing in congested areas is absolutely necessary to prevent the spread of corona infection. Under no circumstances will the number exceed 200 (two hundred only) and it will be mandatory for each person to maintain a distance of 6 feet from each other. A maximum of 200 persons will be present in the marriage and other events to be held in a field outside the identified Containment Zone. It will be mandatory for each person to maintain a distance of 6 feet from each other.
The organizer shall ensure to keep the minimum distance of chairs in the venue at 6-6 feet or to make round circles at a distance of 6-6 feet. It will be mandatory to ensure arrangement of thermal scanner, hand wash and sanitizer at every entrance and exit of the venue by the organizer.
