Jamshedpur: Administration all set to foil July 5 Jharkhand bandh

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district administration has tightened its girdles to deal effectively with hooligans during the July 5 Jharkhand bandh called by various Opposition parties. A meeting of senior administration officials was convened at the Jamshedpur Collectorate auditorium on Monday to chalk out preventive measures to ensure peace during the bandh.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar and Senior Superintendent of police Anoop Birtharay said adequate number of security personnel and magistrates will be deputed at various places across the district in view of the bandh. They said the district administration was going to deal strictly with hooligans and anti-social elements who vandalize public as well as private property in the name of bandh. FIRs will be lodged against the culprits and the damages would be collected from the political parties who have called the bandh, they said.

The DC said the administration had made elaborate arrangements to keep an eye on trouble-mongers. CCTVs and technical surveillance would help the administration tighten noose around the culprits. He said a camp jail would be set up to arrest the bandh supporters and hooligans in case preventive arrest is needed. The administration will also keep an eye on people spreading rumours through Whatsapp or other social media platforms, said the DC.

The SSP said those facing any difficulty during bandh may call police on the number 100 or message on the Whatsapp number 7091091825. Photos of road jams or any untoward situation may also be uploaded on the Whatsapp number of police, said the SSP.

The SSP said quick response teams (QRTs) would be employed at various sensitive places including the highways on the day of bandh.
