Jamshedpur, Feb 11: Four members of a family were killed in a road accident in Chandil on the Tata-Ranchi route on Friday. Two persons, also belonging to the same family, were injured in the mishap, sources said.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Suresh Karmali, his wife Renuka Devi, their daughter Sandhya and their eight month old daughter Mishti. Suresh Karmali had retired from the Indian Army’s Sikh Regiment.
The injured, identified as Praveen Kumar and Pushpa Devi, respectively the son and daughter of Suresh Karmali, were taken to Tata Main Hospital, sources said.
According to sources, the six family members were coming to Jamshedpur in a car all the way from Badkakaan in Ramgarh. The family was coming here to attend a housewarming ceremony in Birsanagar. As the car reached Nargadih, Praveen Kumar, who was driving the car, fell asleep, leading the car to ram into a stationary container parked on the roadside. Pushpa, sitting beside Praveen, was seriously injured in the incident, sources said.
The bodies were sent to MGM Hospital for postmortem examination.
