Jamshedpur: 8-year-old sustains severe burns from high-tension wire while flying kite

Jamshedpur, Jan 6: Abhinav Bhanu, an 8-year-old resident of Yashodanagar in Govindpur police station area, sustained severe burns after coming into contact with a high-tension wire while flying a kite on Monday morning.

The child, who had a school holiday, was playing with friends at home when the mishap occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the high-tension wire was hanging low, leading to the accident. Abhinav was critically injured and immediately rushed to TMH for treatment, where his condition remains serious.

Govindpur police have been informed about the incident. Local residents expressed their anguish, blaming poor maintenance of high-tension wires. “This could have been avoided if authorities ensured proper upkeep of these wires. It’s heart-breaking to see a child suffer like this,” said a neighbour.

The area is now engulfed in grief, and residents are urging authorities to take corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
