Jamshedpur: 500 kg banned meat seized in Haldipokhar, five arrested, 17 cattle rescued

Jamshedpur, Dec 24: Haldipokhar police arrested five persons with 500 kgs of banned animal meat in a raid conducted in Muslim Basti on Saturday. They also rescued 17 cattle who were kept for slaughtering purpose and handed them over to a local Gaushala. Cops seized several sharp weapons used to kill the animals.

Police said a senior officer had received a tip-off about two of the accused, Imran Ali and Shamim alias Pappu were trading in the banned meat. A team was set up to raid the place. Police found the accused persons engaged in slaughtering the animals under a shade at Imran’s house. The accused persons tried to escape but were caught after a chase, police said.
