Jamshedpur, Dec 16: Tata Steel Foundation hosted the fourth edition of the annual Sabal Awards at Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari with 47 persons with disabilities as participants and more than 400 people from across the country attending the ceremony. The event served as a platform to recognise and honour persons with disabilities from various regions of the country.

The Sabal Awards witnessed the performances of 35 physically present participants – each of them being a person with disability, accompanied by 38 escorts. The jury panel, consisting of 17 esteemed members, meticulously evaluated the performances, while 37 volunteers from the Tata Steel Technical Institute, Burmamines, provided necessary on-ground support.

The event was graced by the presence of delegates from the Tata Steel Limited ecosystem, including Chanakya Chaudhary (Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel), Dipankar Dasgupta (Executive-in-Charge, Industrial By-Products Management Division), Dr Sudhir Rai (General Manager, Medical Services, Tata Steel), Debashis Choudhary (Principal Executive Officer), Rituraj Sinha (Managing Director, Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Limited), R N Murty (Managing Director, Tinplate Company of India Limited), and Ravi Radhakrishnan (Chief, Aviation, Tata Steel). Dr Gaurav Raheja, Professor and Head of Architecture and Planning Department at IIT Roorkee, was also present at the event.

The Sabal Awards comprised two categories: Spirit of Expression and Spirit of Resilience.
Captain Amitabh, Head of the Skill Development vertical at Tata Steel Foundation, who supervised the organisation of the event, expressed his appreciation, stating, “The Sabal Awards are a testament to the unwavering spirit and resilience of individuals with disabilities.
