Jadugora workers jubilate over Rakha mines revival

Jamshedpur: Mines workers of Mosabani and Jadugora are a happy lot these days. The reason behind the jubilation is the government�s decision to reopen the copper mines at Jadugora.

In view of the mines revival order, local Bharatiya Janata Party leaders today celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets and bursting firecrackers.

They hailed Chief Minister Raghubar Das and the MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato for taking the initiative to revive the copper mines which was closed since the year 2000. The party leaders said that several lakh tonnes of copper was yet to be exploited from the mines. Around 8000 workers were given voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) after the mines was closed, sources said.

Among those present during the celebration included Kartik Hembram, Ashok Vishwakarma, Anil Prasad, Gauri Shankar Tiwary, Rajesh Bhanj, Amar Pratap Singh, Rohit Rakesh Singh, Manohar Bhanj, Pradeep Choudhary, ANand Kumar, Sudip Marandi and Nagendra Singh.
