JAC’s 8th Board Exam registration delay sparks concern in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The district education department in East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur, is under scrutiny for not promptly implementing the directives issued by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC). Despite the JAC announcing the commencement of online registration for the 8th board examination from November 23 in other districts, East Singhbhum has yet to initiate the process.

As of now, not a single registration has been completed, causing frustration among teachers and concerns for the timely execution of the registration process in approximately 1600 schools within the district. The delay is attributed to the fact that online registration is contingent on center tagging and school approval from the District Education Officer.

The District Education Officer, Nirmala Barelia, stated that the process had begun three days ago. However, when confronted with the fact that online registration had not commenced, she attributed the delay to office staff issues but assured that the process would begin shortly.

The online registration, a prerequisite for candidates to appear in the 8th board examination scheduled for April 2024, is critical for timely planning and organization. The examination will utilize OMR sheets, with only objective-type questions being presented. The school’s internal assessment will determine the results.
Expressing concern over the delay, teachers and stakeholders are urging swift action to ensure that the registration process is initiated promptly, allowing students in East Singhbhum to participate in the upcoming 8th board examination as per the prescribed timeline.
