Jamshedpur, July 17: Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Friday announced the results of class 12 science, commerce and arts streams after postponing the result declaration time from 1 pm to 5 pm, on Friday, July 17. Amit Kumar of Sariya block in Giridih has topped Jharkhand in Science scoring 457 marks. Student of SRSSR High School, Sariya, Bagodar in Giridih district got first position in the state with 91.4 % marks.
Topper’s father Birendra Kumar Burnwal has inverter battery shop near Sariya Railway Crossing while his mother Seem Devi is a homemaker. Amit has cleared the NDA exam but is focused on Engineering after which he wants to get into Civil Services. “After Engineering I want to go for UPSC exam and join civil services. I was the second state topper in Class 10 exam from Netrahat School with 97.4 % marks in the year 2018. After matric I came to Sariya and took admission in SRSSR High School,” elated Amit said.

“I want to give credit for my success to my parents and my teachers who have been the pillar of my strength all through my school days. In May I lost my maternal grandmother with whom I was very close and I want to dedicate this success of mine to my maternal grandmother,” added the science topper.
Amit’s parents Birendra Kumar Burnwal and Seem Devi are overjoyed with their son’s success. “We have given our all and would try to support him every bit in near future for his happiness and future,” they said, adding “Our elder son Chiranjivi is doing graduation in Mathematics Honours from St. Xavier’s College in Ranchi while daughter Sweety is doing polytechnic course from Bokaro.”
Second state topper in science stream is Nitish Kumar Kesari of Inter Science College, Hazaribagh scoring 90.4 % marks. Third place was bagged by three students Mukesh Kumar of Marwari College, Ranchi, Tapaswi Mittal and Rama Kumari Dubey of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi with 90.2 % marks.
