Jamshedpur, July 17: East Singhbhum students fared well in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Class 12 exam, the result of which was announced on Friday evening. Nandita Haripal of Jamshedpur Women’s College topped the state in Arts stream scoring 419 marks. In Commerce Shubham Kumar Thakur of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi has been crowned Jharkhand topper with 450 marks. Amit Kumar of SRSSR High School, Sariya, Bagodar in Giridih district got first position in the state in Science stream with 457 marks.
Jamshedpur Co-Operative College produced the commerce topper in Jamshedpur and East Singhbhum district with Jitu Singh scoring 438 marks.
In Science, Abhijit Prasar of BPM Plus 2 High School Burmamines topped Jamshedpur and East Singhbhum district scoring 420 marks.

Arts Jharkhand topper Nandita Haripal of Jamshedpur Women’s College has scored 419 marks. She scored highest 90 marks in Hindi while the minimum marks she scored is 74 in Political Science. “I find Geography the toughest subject but I scored 88 marks which is a big surprise for me. I want to pursue my graduation from the same college and then do Mass Communication and take up Journalism as a career,” elated Nandita said. Resident of Ashok Path in Bhatia Basti, Kadma, Nandita’s father rajesh Haripal is a tailor while mother Rashmi Haripal is a homemaker but also works as housemaid in neighboring colony. “During studies sometimes I faced financial crunch by but my father ensured my education continued smoothly,” added Nandita. Eldest of the three brothers and sister, Nandita considers Rajat Sharma her idol. After the result was announced on Friday, Principal of Jamshedpur Women’s College, Dr Shukla Mohanty called up the topper and congratulated her and promised her free education and hostel facility for her further studies. She gave credit for her success to her parents, family and teachers who helped her lot all throughout the year.
