JAC class 10 result: 1.28 lakh students fail in matric exam

Only 59.48 percent students pass

Jamshedpur, June 12: Tushar Ranjan of RES High School, Netarhat, emerged as the state topper in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) class 10 exam, the result of which was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Tushar scored 97.60% in aggregate and he got 488 marks out of 500.

Amit Kumar also of RES High School, Netarhat was the second state topper scoring 487 marks out of 500. He achieved 97.40% marks. The third state topper was Amisha Kumari from Indira Gandhi Balika High School, Hazaribag who scored 97.20% marks with total of 486 marks out of 500.

Of the 4,28,379 students who took the exam at 954 centres across the state, only 2,54,830 have passed, the Jharkhand Academic Council, which declared the JAC 10th result, said. Around 1,28,595 students failed this year Class 10 examination. The overall pass percentage stood at 59.48 percent which downgraded the pass percentage by 8 % when comparing it to last year. The exams were conducted for Class 10th from March 8 to March 21 this year.

This time, the results were delayed due to refusal of various teachers to work during the summer vacations. Security measures were also taken by the Board such as installing CCTV cameras to prevent any instance of cheating.

Hazaribagh district had the highest pass percentage of 74.75%, followed by Ranchi (72.93%) and East Singhbhum (68.23%). Latehar witnessed the lowest pass percentage with 38.19%, followed by Garhwa (40.21%) and Chatra (42.59%).

23% (1,01,020 ) students secured first division, 1,18,046 (27%) students secured second division, while 35,764 students (9%) got third division.

This year boys outperformed girls with 128956 boys (61.79%) clearing the examination successfully, while 125878 girls have passed securing a pass percentage of 57.29.
