IT raid on Dheeraj Sahu’s premises extends to third day: Unearths Rs 300 Crores, no sign of Rs 2000 Notes

Ranchi: The ongoing Income Tax (IT) raids on Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu’s properties have entered the third day, revealing a staggering sum of Rs 300 crore in cash. The visuals of currency notes neatly stacked on shelves have surfaced in the media, comprising denominations of Rs 500, 200, 100, and 50. However, conspicuously absent from the recovered cash is any Rs 2000 notes.

The absence of Rs 2000 notes in the sizable cache raises eyebrows, considering that these notes were phased out of circulation, and the deadline for exchanging them was until October 8, 2023. The revelation of such a substantial amount of cash without any Rs 2000 notes prompts speculation about the nature and source of the funds.

As per reports, the counting of the recovered cash has surpassed Rs 300 crore, and there is a possibility that the total amount may increase as the investigation progresses. The IT raid on Dheeraj Sahu’s premises has intensified discussions and raised questions about the origin and utilization of the substantial sum discovered during the operation.
