Ispat Express to be extended up to Junagarh Road

Jamshedpur, Feb 12: The East Coast Railway has announced the extension of Train No. 12871/12872 (Howrah–Titlagarh–Howrah) Tri-Weekly Ispat Express up to Junagarh Road (JNDR). The decision follows communications between the Railway Board and senior officials of the Sambalpur Division.

According to an official letter issued by the Office of the Principal Chief Operations Manager, Bhubaneswar, the inaugural ceremonial run of the extended service will take place on February 19, 2026. The Member of Parliament from Kalahandi will preside over the function and flag off the train from Junagarh Road Railway Station at 3:00 PM.

Railway authorities have been directed to arrange a dummy rake in all respects for the inaugural run from Platform No. 1 at Junagarh Road and to ensure readiness for regular operations thereafter. The preparedness report will be conveyed to the owning Railway (SER) for further necessary action.

The extension is expected to improve connectivity and benefit passengers in the Kalahandi region.
