Jamshedpur: In a bid to facilitate devotees attending the Shravani Mela’s Bhandara programme, the South Eastern Railway has announced a temporary stoppage of two minutes at Posoita Station for the 22862 Kantabanji-Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express and 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express trains. This temporary stoppage will be effective from July 8, 2023, to August 27, 2023, occurring every Saturday and Sunday.
The decision to provide the temporary stoppage was made by the South Eastern Railway in response to the anticipated surge in passengers during the Shravani Mela and to ensure the smooth functioning of transportation services for devotees visiting Posoita.
Passengers traveling on the 22862 Kantabanji-Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express and 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express trains during the designated period will now have the opportunity to alight or board at Posoita Station for the duration of two minutes. This temporary stoppage is expected to provide convenience to the devotees participating in the Bhandara programme and reduce their travel hassles.
The Shravani Mela is an annual religious event held during the Hindu month of Shravan, which attracts a large number of devotees from various parts of the country. The Bhandara programme, a significant part of the Shravani Mela, involves the distribution of food to the devotees visiting the festival. With the temporary stoppage at Posoita Station, devotees traveling via the 22862 Kantabanji-Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express and other trains will have direct access to the Bhandara programme without the need for additional travel arrangements.
The South Eastern Railway has requested passengers to make note of the temporary stoppage at Posoita Station and utilize the facility during their travel to and from the Shravani Mela. They have also assured devotees that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience during the festival.
With the provision of this temporary stoppage, the South Eastern Railway aims to enhance the convenience and accessibility for devotees attending the Shravani Mela and contribute to the success of the Bhandara programme at Posoita Station.
Trains usually do not halt at the station. But, because of the heavy rush of devotees to this place during the holy month of Shravan, the railways provide a halt for all the mail and express trains.
Sources in the district administration informed that over 3 lakh visitors and pilgrims visit the popular Mahadevsal temple during the holy month of Shravan. But, this year the figures are expected to cross 3.50 lakh.
Pilgrims from various parts of the state and the neighbouring Odisha will visit the temple during days of Shravan. This year the holy month commences on July 4.
