Saraikela, March 27: Saraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner A Dodde convened a meeting today with District Education Superintendent Prabla Khes, BDOs and District Education Officers pertaining to the Supreme Court directive stating that students of those schools where midday meals provisions are in effect but are now closed due to lockdown for containing coronavirus infection, will have to be provided cash as supplement for purchase of nutritious food. The DC issued directives to the officials present to ensure proper implementation of the SC order and strictly stated that stern measures be adopted to prevent irregularities in the matter.
The BDOs were directed to provide special passes to all block level workers. They were asked to convene meetings with BEREOs and BPOs and initiate steps for quick disbursal of rations and cash at all block levels. All BDOs will direct supervisors to keep tacks on ration and cash distribution. The BDOs will also have to ensure that food stocks and vegetables are sold at rates fixed by the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saraikela. Strict action was to be taken against dealers not abiding by the rates worked out by the body. Any dealer caught hoarding or blackmarketing such supplies would be taken to immediate task.
The BDOs were further directed to carry out inspection to find out if any dealer was not providing full supply or was refusing to supply the essential food items. They were asked to take immediate action against such errant dealers. They were also directed to promulgate social distancing among customers at all grocery, medical, PDS and vegetable shops.
The BEOs and BPOs were instructed to ensure that no malpractice occurred during distribution of cash or food items failing which stern action would be taken. They were asked to pay money in cash in rural areas and through bank accounts in urban places.
The DC told the BDOs, BPOs and BEOs to ensure full compliance to the SC order and none should remain hungry.
