Jamshedpur, April 22: The IPL Fan Park, an initiative to provide a stadium like experience to the citizens of Jamshedpur, has allured a large number cricket fans to the G-Town Club ground at Bistupur despite the heat.
The Fan Park was organized by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), in association with JSCA (Jharkhand State Cricket Association) in order to promote the 10th season of the Indian Premier League.
On the giant screen set up in the Park, the cricket fans enjoyed a nail biting encounter between the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rising Pune Super Giants; the focal point of the match being, the man from Jharkhand MS Dhoni winning the match for the Super Giants on the last ball. Jamshedpur is one of the 36 cities hosting the Fan Park in the 10th season of the Vivo IPL.
Though the initiative was started two years back, it is the first time Jamshedpur is hosting an event of such calibre. Apart from watching the live action on giant screen, the fans also took part in various fun games and lucky draws held at the venue. BCCI had also organized for music and refreshments and sale of IPL merchandise besides first aid centre, keeping emergencies in mind.
The gates along with the registration opened a couple of hours before the matches, IPL fans came in hoards to enjoy the event. The second match was between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Daredevils.
“The match on the giant screen gave me a stadium like experience in my home city, I hope the Fan Park comes again to Jamshedpur.” said Sadashiv one of the fan who came to enjoy the event.
Tomorrow, the same agenda will be followed at the venue in G-Town Ground, Bistupur. The first match is between Gujarat Lions and the Kings XI from Punjab, while second is a contest between the two favourites for the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
