Jamshedpur, Sep 8: International Literacy Day was observed at Srinath University on Thursday. Students of all departments of the University, led by NSS cell Coordinator, Binay Singh Shandilya fanned out to Dindli Basti and nearby areas and interacted with residents and the illiterate among them were taught to write their names.

Leading the Srinath University students, Binay Shandilya stated, “The residents of Dindly Basti and nearby localities showed great interest in learning and our students showed their zeal towards educating the illiterate. Occasions like these provide an opportunity to students to do something concrete for the community. In these modern times, illiteracy is a social curse and it becomes the responsibility of each and every literate citizen to teach the unfortunate and uneducated people and thus help them to come up in life.”

Prof In-charge Dr Bhavya Bhushan averred, “It is the right of every citizen to be literate and if, for any reason, is unable to get education then, let me tell that there is no age limit to acquire education.”
