Interactive Voice System for COVID-19 patients isolated at home in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 29: With rising COVID-19 patients in home isolation than in health care centres, the Health Department has come with Interactive Voice Record System ( IVRS) to keep a watch on the patients.

The Health Department has put in place mechanisms, including an Interactive Voice Response System that has linked up paramedical staff and virus-affected people staying at home. The feedback taken through IVRS is then passed to the control room and helpline number 104 to keep a track on the patients.

An official of the district health department informed that patients with no or mild symptoms are advised to stay at home. We shortage of beds in the district. People themselves voluntarily choose for staying at home. Even patients admitted at hospitals with moderate symptoms want to get discharged and stay at home, he said. IVRS facility acts as a link between patients and paramedical staff to provide supportive medical care.

The coronavirus cases are on the rise with East Singhbhum district alone is about to reach 5900 mark.

East Singhbhum district civil surgeon Rajendra Jha confirmed that fresh cases of COVID have been reported but it is for certain that if the people start to pay utmost attention in maintaining social distance, keeping one’s hand sanitised again and again and wearing a mask, the Coronavirus has to go soon.

We are also keeping an eye on people advising home isolation. FIR will be lodged against those caught venturing out. In many cases, patients are discharged early and are asked to stay in isolation for 14 days and they should strictly follow this protocol, noted the official.

The administration has also made it mandatory for everyone to wear a mask (either three-layered or made of cloth) if they are outside their homes. And those violating this rule are being booked by police.

An official informed that if anyone found roaming without a mask will be booked under section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.
