Insurance agent dupes Jamshedpur doctor of Rs 14 lakh

Jamshedpur, Oct 20: A case of cheating of Rs 14 lakh in the name of insurance policy has come to light from Dr Joy Bhaduri, well known paediatrician.

An FIR was registered against Chandan Kumar and other employees of Bharti AXA Life Insurance on the complaint of the doctor in Sitaramdera police station for duping Rs 14 lakh for making a policy of Bharti AXA Life Insurance, payment of premium. Even after a month, no action was taken by the police.

Dr Joy Bhaduri told that Bharti AXA Life Insurance employee got three policies in his name from Chandan Kumar, one each (total five) in the name of wife Gauri Bhaduri and daughter Sohini between September 2018 to October 2020. During 2019-20, a total premium of Rs 17 to 18 lakh was paid, but Chandan, an employee of the company, deposited a premium of only Rs 3 lakh in the company and defrauded the remaining Rs 14 lakh. The employee kept taking money but didn’t deposit it. He said that he complained about this in writing and through mail to the company’s office in Jamshedpur, Mumbai, but no action was taken.

It was told that the policy number being mentioned is not in the records of the company. After registering the FIR at Sitaramdera police station on September 19, statement was also recorded on behalf of DSP of Sitaramdera station in-charge, Headquarters 1. He also met the Senior Superintendent of Police of the district and informed about the matter.

Here, it is being told that a BJP leader is canvassing on behalf of the accused to settle the case  in the in the police station.
