Jamshedpur, Nov 7: The international conference CRITMET 2025, organized by CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, brought together global experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss key issues surrounding the extraction, supply chain, and international policy of critical metals. The discussions highlighted the growing importance of critical minerals in shaping global geopolitics and sustainable industrial development.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Prof. Kerstin Forsberg, Professor at KTH Sweden and an expert in crystallization and precipitation techniques, spoke on the “Opportunities and Challenges in Critical Raw Material Processing.” She emphasized the need for innovative and sustainable approaches in the extraction and purification of critical metals.

The plenary lecture was delivered by Prof. Amilton Barbosa Botelho Junior from MIT, USA, on “Supported Liquid Membranes Combined with Electrodialysis for Separation of Critical Metals.” Experts from leading organizations such as GMDC, TCS, Tata Steel, and S&P Global also shared insights during the technical sessions.
The conference has attracted more than 275 participants from research institutions, industries, and government bodies. The event also features an exhibition of the latest technologies in critical minerals and a poster session showcasing cutting-edge research in the field.
