Infant abduction triggers investigation at MGM Hospital

Jamshedpur: In a startling incident, a newborn has gone missing from the gynecological ward of MGM Hospital, prompting swift action from local authorities. The incident, reported at 3 pm on Wednesday, has caused a ripple of concern within the hospital management, leading to the immediate involvement of Sakchi police in the investigation.

According to initial information, an abandoned woman from Mango was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing labor pains, subsequently giving birth to a child the same day. However, this afternoon, an unknown individual took the newborn from the mother.

Superintendent of MGM Hospital, Dr. Ravindra Kumar, revealed that the woman was admitted by someone other than herself. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, two women and two men were identified as suspicious individuals. They entered the gynecological ward empty-handed but left with a newborn in their possession. The hospital management is diligently exploring both angles of child theft and the infant being missing.

The woman, described as abandoned and residing near Mango Jawaharnagar Road No. 12, shared during interrogation that she has no family. She explained that, on the pretext of assisting her during the rains, a man had physical relations with her, resulting in her pregnancy. The police are actively investigating this matter to ascertain further details.

The community and authorities are urged to cooperate to ensure a comprehensive investigation, with the primary focus on the safe recovery of the missing newborn and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
