Jamshedpur, Aug 31: A two-day indoor sports competition was organised at APJ Abdul Kalam High School, Mango, to mark National Sports Day. The event concluded on Sunday morning with a prize distribution ceremony.
Chief Guest Dr. Afroz Shakeel addressed the students and highlighted the significance of the day, celebrated across India as the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports, stressing that games build discipline, teamwork and respect for time. “In the sports field, even a nanosecond matters. Sometimes players fall behind by just that margin. Students must learn the value of time through sports,” he said.
Winners in various categories were awarded trophies by Md Tahir Hussain. The event was attended by Md Shahid, Rafat Ara, Shahid Akhtar, Rizwan, Shahzeb Ansari and a large number of parents, who applauded the children’s efforts.
