New Delhi: The ongoing Winter session of Parliament in India saw the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) presenting a study affirming that COVID-19 vaccination does not heighten the risk of sudden mysterious deaths among young adults in the country. Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that, according to the ICMR study, the chances of sudden death increase after hospitalization due to Covid-19, influenced by family history and lifestyle factors.
Addressing concerns about a potential connection between Covid vaccination and heart attack incidents, Mandaviya emphasized that while some cases of sudden death have been reported after Covid infection, there is insufficient evidence to confirm the cause. Additionally, he highlighted another study focusing on the side effects of the Corbevax vaccine in children aged twelve to fourteen, concluding that the vaccine is safe with only mild side effects.
In related updates, the Union Health Ministry reported 180 new cases of coronavirus infection in India, bringing the total number of patients under treatment to 744. The country’s Covid-19 statistics, as of the latest update, include a total death toll of 5,33,306 and 4,50,02,741 confirmed cases. The recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81 percent, with a death rate of 1.19 percent.
Notably, more than 220.67 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in India, as the government continues its vaccination drive to combat the pandemic.
