Ranchi: In an ongoing Income Tax (IT) raid spanning Dhanbad and Bokaro districts, a significant development has emerged. This morning, the IT team conducted searches at multiple locations of coal traders, leading to the recovery of more than one crore rupees from the residence of Deepak Poddar. Sources indicate that a substantial amount of cash has been found during the raid at Hotel Wedlock in Dhanbad, allegedly owned by businessman Deepak Poddar. The hotel has been a subject of controversy for an extended period.
The IT raids, initiated on Thursday morning in Dhanbad, are still underway at various locations associated with coal traders. The operation includes searches at the residences and offices of coal businessman Anil Goyal in Tikia Pada, Old Bazaar, his brother’s hotel in Shastri Nagar (Rana Janardan Singh), businessman Deepak Poddar’s residence in Joraphatak, and his hotel Wedlock in Govindpur, along with his factory and warehouse.
As part of the investigation, the IT team is extensively questioning the coal businessmen and meticulously examining their documents.
