In age of technological advancement, workforce needs to reskill itself: SD Tripathi

Jamshedpur Feb. 19: Tata Steel today organized the �Valedictory Function� at the Steelennium Hall, to mark the end of the �Productivity Week� celebrated from February 12 � 18, 2019. Various events were organized during the week which included a Conference on Simulation and Artificial Intelligence, Productivity contest, Productivity Quiz, and Productivity Skits.

Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President (HRM), Tata Steel, was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function and R Rabi Prasad, President, Tata Worker�s Union was the Guest of Honour. V Sethuraman, Senior General Manager (Supplier Development Integration), Brakes India Pvt Ltd, Chennai, and Shyam Sunder Singh, General Secretary, Tata Motors Worker�s Union, Lucknow, were the Guest Speakers.

Speaking on the occasion, Tripathi said �Workforce will have to continuously reskill themselves in today�s age of rapid technological advancement and automation�. He also touched upon the importance of human role in executing intelligent jobs to improve productivity in an organization. While Robots could do repetitive jobs faster to improve productivity, the programme to run a robot requires intelligent human intervention to write the codes, he added.

R. Rabi Prasad stressed upon importance of co-operation between Union and Management to achieve higher productivity.

Sethuraman shared the success story of Brakes India on the issue of using robots for improving productivity.

Shyam Sunder Singh explained the importance of �4T � Trust, Transparency, Teamwork & Training� in building employee relations and the role of Union and Management as the building block for achieving aspirational productivity goals.

The function aimed at getting external perspective of productivity improvement initiatives and recognized the winners of different everts by giving them prizes.
