Jamshedpur: Excise department launched drive against illicit liquor. Indian Make Foreign Liquors (IMFL) worth Rs 3 lakh were seized from two separate places in city. Under directive of assistant commissioner Jharkhand excise department, Jamshedpur division, Manoj Kumar, in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, the drive was carried. About 35 cartoons of IMFL from a house in OraonBasti in Sitaramdera while 11 cartoons of IMFL from a house in Manifit under Telco thana.
Acting on tip-off the department raided the locality in Manifit and seized 11 cartoons of IMFL and managed to nab Rishi Rajak (30) who had stocked the liquors in a general store. The arrested culprit was sent to Ghaghidih central jail today based on Excise Act. A raid was carried at OraonBasti in Sitaramdera and seized 35 cartoons of IMFL. However, the owner of the house managed to flee.
Sources in the excise department raiding team informed that in the raids at Telco, the team recovered liquors bottles procured from Arunachal Pradesh.�We have recovered 11 cartoons of Kings Gold make IMFL, Imperial Blue and Royal Stag make liquors. These liquors had been procured from Arunachal Pradesh where the excise duty is very less compared to Jharkhand and it was meant to be sold here,� said the source.
