Jamshedpur, May 7: The seven-month long protest demanding shutting of an India Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL) shop at Tube Chowk in Burmamines finally saw the light of day when the district administration finally brought down the shutters of the outlet. The Central Committee President of Kendriya Mukhi Samaj, Hari Mukhi expressed his gratitude to the district administration for taking the long demanded step to close down the IMFL outlet at the Tube Chowk in Burmamines PS area. Hari Mukhi said, “We had been demanding the closure of the liquor outlet at Tube Company Chowk since the past seven months. This demand had been raised during a Burmamines Peace Committee meeting in the presence of the ADM. We then handed a memorandum on the issue to the current Deputy Commissioner and the ADM and that had an immediate effect with the removal of the liquor shop from the Tube Company Chowk in Burmamines.”
It may be mentioned that two IMFL shops were being operated at the Tube Company Chowk in Burmamines and people used to gather at the Chowk and consume liquor openly there. The residents of the nearby Mukhi colony, especially the women folk, were put to great inconvenience because they could barely move out of their homes due to the crowd of people consuming liquor openly and passing snide and sometimes, lewd remarks.
Hari Mukhi expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, ADM and Burmamines police station In-charge for their cooperation in meeting the demand for closure of the IMFL outlet at Tube Company Chowk in Burmamines PS area.
