Illegal parking, road, power Issues dominate Jamshedpur Durga Puja meeting

Jamshedpur, Sept 3: The East Zone meeting of the Durga Puja Central Committee was held at Sabuj Kalyan Sangh, Telco. The program began with Durga Stuti by Pradeep Kumar Das. The meeting was presided by Sameer Hor, conducted by Nandlal Singh. The vote of thanks was offered by Mithilesh Ghosh. Representatives of 46 puja committees participated in the meeting.

Committees from JEMCO, Manifit highlighted the danger of illegal truck-trailer parking during immersion. The road to Hurlung Ghat was reported in poor condition, while Ramadhin Bagan Committee demanded installation of street lights. Navjeevan Complex, Kalimati Road, Kamdhenu Apartment, and Luabasa committees sought urgent road repairs.

Birsanagar and Anand Vihar committees flagged non-functional streetlights, while Chhota Govindpur Market Committee urged repair of a damaged high mast light. Sabuj Kalyan Sangh resolved to ensure an alcohol-free immersion this year.

General Secretary Ashutosh Singh assured that slag supply would begin within the week and said that with district administration’s support, all issues would be resolved before Puja. Guidelines for immersion will also be shared with committees soon.

The meeting was attended by City DSP Sunil Kumar, Telco PS In-charge Prashant Kumar, Traffic Inspector Shailendra Kumar, and Birsanagar PS In-charge Santosh Kumar, along with other officials.

Durga Puja Committees highlight road, security concerns in South Zone-B Meeting

Jamshedpur, Sept 3: The South Zone-B meeting of the Central Durga Puja Committee chaired by Vice President Rajesh Rai and conducted by Ram Prasad Jaiswal, saw participation from 32 committees of Sundarnagar and Parsudih areas.

The poor condition of roads dominated the discussions, with members warning that unfinished construction work could disrupt idol processions. Sarjamda Committee demanded government medical support during puja, while Sarvapalli Committee objected to a liquor shop near its pandal. Sundarnagar Committee called for removal of illegal encroachments, and Vidyasagar Palli requested repair of damaged electricity poles. Sopodera Committee sought road repairs, while Kukradih Committee asked for slag supply.

Local committees also urged administrative officials to visit their areas, saying the situation made organizing puja difficult. A request was also made to improve lighting at Narwa immersion ghat.

General Secretary Ashutosh Singh assured that these issues would be presented to the District Magistrate and resolved before the festival. Officials from Parsudih and Sundarnagar police stations, traffic department, electricity board, and health department attended the meeting along with Zone Secretary Somu Bhowmik and other committee leaders.

Dist CDPC submits demand letter for idol immersion arrangements

Jamshedpur, Sept 3: Preparations for Sharadiya Durga Puja 2025 gained momentum as the East Singhbhum Central Durga Puja Committee (CDPC) submitted a demand letter regarding idol immersion facilities. A 10-member delegation, led by Executive President Dharmendra Sonkar and General Secretary Lalan Yadav, met UCIL Narwa Pahar Pratishthan’s CSR Head and Mine Manager M.K. Singh.

The committee emphasized timely repair of Garra River Ghat at Narwa, installation of a lighting system with generators, repair of connecting roads, pruning of overhanging trees, and arrangements for security, drinking water, ambulance, and first aid support. Every year, around 35 public puja committees from Sundarnagar, Parsudih, Chhota-Bada Govindpur, and nearby villages immerse their idols at this ghat.

Local puja committees also sought pre-announcement of immersion dates and appointment of divers for safety. The Central Committee assured them of support and coordination with the district administration. The meeting ended on a positive note, with UCIL management promising to address all demands before Puja.

Special contributions in the meeting came from UCIL’s CSR officials D.N. Singh, Subroto Gope, Ghazia Hansda, K.S. Pal, and Central Committee leaders Pawan Upadhyay, S.K. Sharma, and Nandkishore Thakur.
