Jamshedpur, Dec 10: On the occasion of World Human Rights Day on Wednesday, December 10 Women wing of International Human Rights Association (IHRA) organized several events across the city.
Headed by National General Secretary of IHRA the wing held programs at Upar Basti in Mango, Tamolia Basti and Golmuri Tata Line Basti to make the women aware about their rights. On the occasion Singh said that every human should make use of their rights and can help in development of their area and state.
Making women aware Usha Singh said that in the area of human rights political, social and cultural rights should also be protected. Singh declared that right to be heard and to shape the decisions that affect their lives and communities.
“We declare that human rights are for all of us, all the time: whoever we are and wherever we are from; no matter our class, our opinions, our sexual orientation,” she said, adding that violations of these rights are more than personal tragedies and are alarm bells that may warn of a much bigger crisis.
She called on the government to honour their obligation to protect human rights everyday of the year, and for people to hold their governments to account.
On the occasion IHRA Women wing district President Chandna Chatterjee, former district president Sushmita Sarkar, Prabha Tiwary, Flora Gill, Sanju Kalindi, Shanti Kalindi, Malti Tiwary, Guruwari, Alisha Tirkey, Shalu, Nishant, Shashi, Rashmi, Shobha, Dharmpal, Uma Koda, Harjeet Kaur, Geeta Aalda and others were present.
