Jamshedpur, Oct 16: Holding Madhya Pradesh government responsible for the temple stampede that killed 115 people and left more than 200 injured, members of International Human Rights Association (IHRA) Women Cell headed by State President, Usha Singh today demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
“The Madhya Pradesh government needs to take responsibility for this. The chief minister needs to resign,” said Usha Singh at a meeting held in IHRA’s women Cell office situated at Mango. Prayer meeting was held during the occasion for the victims of the stampede.
Usha accused the government of being unprepared for the crowds that throng the Ratangarh Durga temple in Datia district. At the meet Chandna Chatterjee, Gayatri Das, Rashmi, Prabha Tiwari, Malti Tiwari, Alisha Tirkey, Nishant, Shashi, Shobha, Harjeet Kaur, Geeta Aaida, DharamPal, Uma Koda along with several other women were present.
It may also be noted that Madhya Pradesh is due for polls in November and the Congress has been trying to come back to power in the state since 2003.
