IG Akhilesh Jha launches Women’s Safety initiative in Jamshedpur, inspects Dial 112 and Cyber PS

Jamshedpur, August 31: IG Akhilesh Kumar Jha of the South Chhota Nagpur Range on August 31 inaugurated a crucial new initiative by the Jamshedpur Police aimed at enhancing women’s safety. During the event, IG Jha inspected the Dial 112 and Cyber Police Stations, providing essential guidance to the officers present. “This initiative is a significant step towards empowering women and ensuring their safety,” Jha stated, adding, “If successful, we aim to expand this pilot project across the entire state.”

Accompanied by Kolhan DIG Manoj Ratan and Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, Kishore Kaushal, IG Jha conducted a thorough review of pending cases at the Cyber Police Station in Bistupur. “We have meticulously examined the police station records and issued specific directives to enhance the prevention of cyber crimes,” Jha said. He emphasized that the police’s primary responsibility is to safeguard women and girls while remaining vigilant against anti-social elements.

In his address, IG Jha praised the Jamshedpur Police’s efficient response to the Dial 112 service and highlighted ongoing efforts to improve its quality. Regarding the integration of Dial 112 with the tracking app 112 (2.0), Jha commented, “We have sent a request to the central agency to address the limitations of the current 112 (1.0) system. We are committed to enhancing the service’s effectiveness with continuous advancements.”

Jha also addressed the increasing challenge of cyber crimes, noting the rising complexity of cases and the corresponding challenges faced by police personnel. “The state police headquarters has appointed a sub-inspector specifically to tackle cyber crimes, with plans to promote this officer to inspector,” he revealed.

Upon his arrival in Jamshedpur, IG Jha was honoured with a guard of honour, and senior police officers, including the senior superintendent of police of Jamshedpur, were present to welcome him.
