IED explosion claims life of CRPF Bomb Disposal Squad member in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum 

 
 
Jamshedpur : In a devastating incident on Friday, three personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) bomb disposal squad (BDS) were injured, with one succumbing to fatal injuries as an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the Naxal-infested region of Goelkera.

The tragic incident unfolded when the BDS team ventured into a forest stretch near Hatibera village to diffuse explosives aimed at targeting CRPF personnel.
Second-in-command Ejeto Tine received intelligence indicating a significant presence of IEDs in the forest stretch.
The BDS team commenced detection efforts, but during the operation, an IED exploded, resulting in injuries to all three personnel.
The victims were promptly airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi, where Constable Santosh Oraon was declared brought dead.
Following the IED blast, additional paramilitary forces were deployed to reinforce the area, intensifying anti-insurgency operations.
The CRPF 60 battalion mourns the loss of Constable Santosh Oraon and extends support to the injured personnel, emphasizing the inherent risks faced by bomb disposal squads in conflict zones. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges in addressing insurgency and highlights the courage displayed by CRPF personnel in the line of duty.
