IDTR’s ‘Smart Village Model’ clinches second place at Tech Fest 2024

Gamharia, Oct 26: A village that boasts essential facilities such as cleanliness, internal roads, a dual power generation system, automatic street lights, and a water conservation system can be considered a ‘Villeti,’ or the vision of a city in a village. The second-year Mechatronics students of IDTR showcased such a model at Tech Fest 2024, held at the Tata Steel Technical Institute, themed ‘Technical Knowledge Makes Life Easy.’ Their innovative model received widespread appreciation and secured second place among entries from various institutions. The students were honored by the chief guest of the event, Bhupendra Lodhi, CHRO of RKFL.

On this occasion, participant Diya emphasized the alarming trend of migration from villages to cities, warning that the existence of villages could soon be at risk. Key contributors to the project included Mechatronics students Diya Champiya, Sahil Kumar, Anik Sarkar, and Risika Singh, under the guidance of placement officer Pankaj Kumar.

In a separate achievement, third-year Mechatronics students from IDTR also secured second place in an environmental protection competition at Tata Cummins Jamshedpur. Their model, a solar-operated smart irrigation system, received high praise. Students Aditi Kumari, Bhumika Pandey, Pragya Rai, and Shreya Jha were instrumental in creating this innovative project.
