Ranchi, November 17 After the case of demolition of four idols in temples simultaneously came to light in Jharkhand, angry people blocked the national highway.
The incident took place in Mandar block of Ranchi. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area after the information about the idols being vandalized.
As soon as the villagers got information about this in the morning, they took to the road with sticks.
People blocked NH-75 in the morning itself. Traffic on the NH has been completely stopped.
A large number of police forces have been deployed to control the situation. Circle Inspector of Mandar, Awadhesh Thakur said that there is a lot of anger and resentment among the villagers due to this incident. He has appealed to the villagers to maintain peace and vacate the highway.
Finally, after seven hours, people got up from the road and only then the vehicular traffic on the highway became normal.
Former Jharkhand minister and Congress working president Bandhu Tirkey has condemned this incident.
Statues were disintegrated with cutter machine! It is reported that a cutter machine has been used to break the statues. The villagers have blocked the NH at three places and are sitting on the middle of the road. Due to this, the movement of vehicles has come to a complete halt. People have also blocked the road in Budhmu.
Rural SP Manish Toppo said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed to investigate the incident of damaging idols in temples. The culprits will be arrested soon.
