Jamshedpur, Oct 18: Hundreds of BJP workers from Ichagarh gathered at the BJP state headquarters in Ranchi, protesting the party’s decision to allot the Ichagarh assembly seat to AJSU as part of the alliance. Led by Ankur Singh, the workers raised slogans and demanded that BJP field its own candidate, citing Ichagarh as a traditional BJP stronghold.

The protest, which lasted for about three hours, saw workers voicing their opposition to AJSU receiving the seat. Ankur Singh, nephew of former MLA Arvind Kumar Singh, stressed that Ichagarh has long been a BJP bastion, and the party should honour its legacy by contesting the seat. He noted that BJP had performed well in previous elections from Ichagarh, particularly during the Lok Sabha polls, and the people favoured a BJP candidate.
Union Minister Sanjay Seth had also previously backed BJP’s claim to the seat, reinforcing the workers’ demand. Protesters made it clear that if BJP fields any candidate from Ichagarh, they would support it fully, but if the ticket goes to AJSU, they will regroup and plan their next course of action.
