Khan Mazdoor Union not a part of JMM

Ghatsila, Sept 10: “Khan Mazdoor Union is not a part of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The only union across the state that is supported by our party is Jharkhand Labour Union that takes up issues of reinstatement. has nothing to do with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. The only union supported by JMM is in the entire state regarding labor reinstatement, so it is Jharkhand Labor Union. If any other union comes out with the JMM banner is wrong and strict action will be taken by the party against such organizations,” stated the JMM District President and Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren while interacting with the media on Saturday, September 10.
He accused The Indian Copper Corporation (ICC) management of misleading people especially the company’s workers who had been laid of ‘under some pretext or the other.’
While reacting angrily to media reports that the ICC company had been shut down due to non-payment of chalan amount by the state government, Ramdas Soren, said, “On August 17 last, the District Mining Officer had organized a meeting regarding the closure of the ICC with the state’s Mines Director Manoj Kumar and the DM. The ICC management was asked to reply to three points raised in the meeting within two days of the notification but no reply was received. The ICC management is responsible for the closure of the mines.”
The JMM leader said that the lease renewal of Surda Mines was approved by the Jharkhand government on 374 hectares of land with the directive to provide and Environment Certificate (EC) within three months of the lease renewal and it was provided by the ICC management earlier than the deadline. JMM district President further informed, “The state government had given clear cut instruction to the ICC that only mining work was to be executed by the ICC on 324 hectares and the the other 50 acres were to be handed back to the state government. Due to no response to the government’s directive even after the lapse of so many days, the Jharkhand government had no other option but to stop providing further chalans.”
