Jamshedpur, Nov 13: A gruesome case of triple murder has shaken the Kharsawan region of Seraikela-Kharsawan district after police unearthed three decomposed bodies buried underground nearly 10 to 12 days ago.
The shocking revelation has triggered widespread outrage and fear among residents.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the killings were the result of deep-rooted superstitions and local disputes.

Police sources indicate that the victims were allegedly branded as “witches” (daayan) and targeted over accusations related to witchcraft, coupled with ongoing personal enmity in the village.
Acting on specific intelligence, police teams launched an intensive search and discovered the burial site, leading to the recovery of the bodies.

The accused individuals have since been apprehended and taken into custody for interrogation.
Seraikela-Kharsawan police confirmed that all three bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death.
“It appears to be a case involving superstition and local rivalry. We have arrested the suspects and further investigation is continuing,” said an official.
The incident once again highlights the persistent menace of witch-hunting and superstition-related violence in parts of rural Jharkhand, despite ongoing awareness campaigns and stringent laws against such practices.
Police have tightened security in the area to prevent any potential unrest, while efforts are being made to counsel villagers against the spread of superstition and communal tension.
