Home Guards at RIMS await salary for three months; Threaten to boycott duty

Ranchi: Home Guards stationed at RIMS, the largest hospital in the state, are facing financial distress as they have not received their salaries for the past three months. The dedicated soldiers, responsible for various duties within the hospital premises, have expressed their concern, stating that if their salaries are not disbursed promptly, they may be compelled to abstain from duty.

Despite assurances from the Finance Department of the Jharkhand Government, which had issued a notification guaranteeing the timely payment of salaries for all state employees before Christmas and New Year, the home guards have yet to receive their dues. This delay in salary disbursement has raised apprehensions among the 400 home guards currently serving in three shifts at RIMS.

Home guards play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth functioning of RIMS, carrying out duties in various areas such as the hospital itself, Dr Colony, and the hostel. Their responsibilities extend to providing essential information and assistance to patients seeking medical treatment.
