Jamshedpur: Vir Shaheed Ganganarayan Singh Jayanti cum Admission Mela was organized at Upgraded Middle School in Tangrain, Potka, on Thursday. A traditional tribal group dance was organized on this occasion under the aegis of Tribal Cultural Society, Tata Steel. Cash prizes were announced for the winners of the dance competition on behalf of TCS. The programme was conducted by Ujjwal Mandal.
Arbind Tiwary, headmaster of Upgraded Middle School, Tangrain, said the school had set up a language resource centre to encourage mother tongue. Every Saturday and Sunday, Bhumij, Santhali and Bengali are taught to the students, he said.
Among others present on the occasion included Ramchandra Tudu, Viren Tiu, Babulal Goipai, Chhote Sardar, Sidheshwar Sardar, Kumar Neeraj, Basanti Sardar, Amal Kumar Dixit and Mohita Tudu.
