Jamshedpur, July 3: A youth was fatally injured, while another lost his right hand as they were hit by a goods-train on the Tata-Sarjamda section near Tatanagar station under Parsudih police station area in the wee hours of�Sunday.
Both the injured identified as Subhas Hansda (27) and Geluram Tuddu (22). The police rushed the two victims to the MGM Medical College and Hospital. As their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Tata Main Hospital, where Subhas succumbed to his injuries in the morning.
The incident took place�on a railway tracks along Dukhutola under Parsudih police station area.��The police have recovered a motorcycle from the scene of fatal mishap.
Officer in-charge of Parsudih police station Shankar Thakur confirmed about the mishap, but could not provide much detail as to why the two youths, who were residents of Karandih, were at the spot.
Thakur said both the victims Subhas and Geluram were friends and had gone to pass some quality time at a field close to Dukhutola in Parsudih along a railway track.
�We are investigating the mishap. As per our information after spending some time at the field both started walking on the railway track.��But in the meantime a goods-train came on the track, causing both the youths to come under its wheels,” said Thakur.
The officer-in-charge said in the mishap, both the youths had sustained injuries.��He said Subhas had sustained grievous injury as his left shoulder was ruptured after coming under the wheel.
“Someone in the Dukhutola coming to know about the incident reported the matter to the Parsudih thana. Soon we called in a police ambulance and rushed them to the MGM Medical College and Hospital for treatment,” explained Thakur.
The officer-in-charge said that they have recovered a motorcycle from the place of occurrence, adding that the bike belonged to Subhas only.
A police source revealed on the condition of anonymity that both the injured were drunk and they met with the mishap while under the influence of liquor.
According to relatives of the victims, both the injured were shifted to Tata Main Hospital by�6 a.m., but Subhas succumbed to his injury at�8 a.m.��Tuddu who has lost his right hand is undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital.
