Jamshedpur: Three members of the Japanese Consulate from Kolkata visited Hill Top School on 14th August in a bid to acquaint the students with Japanese culture.
Manami Kato, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, Hiroko Nagahama of Tokyo Kasei University and Supratik Sil Roy from the Consulate were part of the delegation.
There was an interaction, followed by a film highlighting the strengths of Japan. From the delectable sushi, their favorite food, to the graceful Kimono, their favorite attire; and from sumo wrestling & judo, their popular sport to manufacturing industry, the introduction to Japanese culture was indeed enriching.
This followed by a fun quiz on Japan, which was followed by a workshop on Calligraphy wherein Hiroko Nagahama demonstrated and guided students on the nuances of the art of Japanese style of calligraphy.
The students learnt and practiced the art using brush strokes and specialized brushes, with excitement and enthusiasm.
