Union Worked Hard to Secure EPS 95 for Employees: TWU President Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary
EPFO Commissioners Felicitated at Tata Workers Union after EPS 95 Green Signal
Jamshedpur, Sept 12: The Tata Workers Union (TWU) warmly welcomed Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) Commissioner (Regional Office Jamshedpur) Upendra Pratap Singh, following the release of the higher pension under EPS 95 for Tata Steel employees. A meeting with the office bearers and members of the Executive Committee of TWU was held on Friday at Michael John Auditorium to discuss the implementation of the scheme.
Union Leadership Appreciates EPFO Support
The meeting began with TWU President Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, extending a warm welcome to the EPFO Commissioner. He thanked Singh for releasing the long-pending higher pension for Tata Steel employees and presented him with a bouquet, shawl, and memento on behalf of the union. EPFO official Prashant was also honored with a bouquet and shawl by the union leadership.
President Choudhary highlighted the century-long legacy of the Tata Workers Union, which had been led by notable figures, including Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He recalled that former TWU President R. Ravi Prasad had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on behalf of the union regarding the higher pension, which was ultimately decided in favour of the employees. Choudhary also submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Labour and the Prime Minister’s Office, urging the release of the higher pension under EPS 95. Following these efforts, the EPFO Commissioner issued the order on 11 September 2025.
Call to Extend Benefits to Post-2014 Employees
During the meeting, President Choudhary requested the EPFO to extend the higher pension facility to Tata Steel employees who joined the company after 2014.
Upendra Pratap Singh expressed his pride in being part of a union with such a historic legacy. He emphasized that the government had introduced significant welfare schemes for workers and confirmed that the higher pension under EPS 95 was the rightful entitlement of Tata Steel employees, which the government had now fulfilled.
TWU General Secretary Satish Kumar Singh outlined the union’s long journey in advocating for EPS 95 benefits. He thanked the EPFO, Tata Steel’s Accounts Department, all executive committee members of TWU, press representatives, and all employees who contributed directly or indirectly to the success of the program.
The program was conducted by TWU Vice President Dr. Shahnawaz Alam, who spoke about the union’s rich history. Other office bearers present included Vice President Sanjay Kumar Singh, Rajiv Kumar Chaudhary, and Assistant Secretaries Nitesh Raj, Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, and Shyam Babu, among others.

1995 se 2007 tk kam karne ke bad ye niyam lagu hoga
We have seen fake news instead of real news why?
I did my service in TRL Kroaski (Formerly Tata Refractories Limited – A subsidiary of Tata Steel) and put service in between 1981 to 2013, rejected my Higher Pension Application EPS 95 by the concern and approved the same those who retired after 2014. No justification, though I made request several through mail and phonecall for higher pension.
