New Delhi (IANS): With less than 24 hours left for the Re-NEET UG 2026 examination, aspirants across India are racing against time for last-minute revisions. However, several students said that stress and sudden scheduling have severely dented their confidence compared to the original May 3 exam.
Disbelief and Stress Grip Candidates
An aspirant from Jammu and Kashmir admitted she initially dismissed the paper leak reports as a “prank,” assuming authorities would resolve the issue quickly.
“When realization finally hit me, I started preparing for the re-examination again,” she said.
The student fears a much tougher question paper this time, noting that intense stress restricted her to basic revision. “Honestly, I still don’t think I am well prepared this time,” she added, while demanding transparent testing protocols so that “the efforts of lakhs of students do not go to waste.”
Another student, Mariam, who began dedicated coaching in Class 11 to balance NEET with her Class 12 board exams, stated her May 3 attempt went exceptionally well. The sudden re-exam announcement, however, shattered that momentum.
“Many students got very stressed, which impacted their health. Many of us are mentally not prepared. Last time I was confident enough, but now preparing amidst so much stress is difficult,” Mariam revealed.
Despite her anxiety, Mariam welcomed the government’s extreme security measures—including deploying the Indian Air Force to airlift question papers to exam centres—expressing hope that the NTA will conduct the exam safely this time.
Accepting the Challenge
In Dharwad, Karnataka, aspirant Brijesh S.H. shared his journey of academic improvement. After scoring 430 in a previous attempt, strategic guidance from his teachers helped him jump to a strong score of 610 on May 3.
Brijesh views the current crisis as an early test for his future medical career. “Being a doctor is not easy, so our struggles start from here itself,” he said. “We accepted it as a challenge, though the preparation has in itself been a struggle.”
Like his peers, Brijesh confessed that his current preparation falls short of his previous peak performance, but he remains optimistic. “Still, I hope I will clear the exam,” he said.
