Herd of nine elephants seen in Chakulia, Jadugora

Jamshedpur, Dec 13: A herd of nine elephants was spotted near Dighi village situated in Ward No 12 of Chakulia Nagar Panchayat on Monday evening. The local villagers are in a panicky situation ever since. They said the elephants had come very close to their village and were destroying standing crops. They said the elephants often entered the villages from the nearby forests.

The villagers said they had informed the forest department about the herd’s presence. The elephants continue to road in the area for the last three days and the forest officials have done nothing for the safety of crops and human lives, said the villagers.
