Seraikela-Kharsawan: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren raised a critical issue regarding the persistent delays of passenger trains in the Chandil-Tata rail section. Addressing Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw directly on the social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister labelled the current situation as “unacceptable”. He expressed deep concern that passenger trains on this vital rail segment have faced hours of delay for the past two years, causing significant disruption to public life.
Chief Minister Soren questioned the priorities of the Indian Railways, alleging discrimination between freight and passenger services. He noted that authorities often halt passenger trains for hours on a single track while allowing goods trains to pass without interruption. He pointedly asked on ‘X’ whether the Railways considers the time of Jharkhand’s people as valuable as the freight transport that drives the national economy.
The lack of punctual train services severely impacts labourers, students, and employees who depend on this rail section for daily commuting to work and educational institutions. The Chief Minister emphasized that this is not merely a technical operational issue but a matter involving the convenience and dignity of the country’s citizens. Thousands of passengers face long waits at stations, which directly hurts their working hours and educational pursuits.
Hemant Soren urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to grant top priority to passenger trains in the Chandil-Tata section. He also requested a directive to complete pending railway infrastructure projects in the region within a fixed timeframe. The Chief Minister stated that he would not accept any compromise regarding the convenience of Jharkhand’s citizens and demanded that the Railways ensure an immediate, permanent solution to the problem of train delays.
